About Forged Steel Fitness

My name is Odinga Maison and I am the co-owner of Forged Steel Fitness. I am 49 years old and I started lifting weights in 1989. As a coach, I consider myself an up-and-comer and a student of the game. My ability to learn information and pass it on to my athletes in the simplest terms is one of my strongest traits. I’m patient, flexible and always have a plan A, B and C for every situation.

My first taste of competition was at a powerlifting meet in 1990. From 1995 - 1999 I was the 181 lb. National Powerlifting Champion. When I wasn’t prepping for powerlifting meets, I started to do bodybuilding training. This is where my love for the sport of bodybuilding started. I went on to win numerous titles in bodybuilding with the most memorable being Mr. Guyana in 1999. The first person I helped prepare for a bodybuilding competition was my friend and training partner, Horace Steele. After his meet prep, we both agreed he was the in the best condition he had ever been in. Unfortunately, when it came time for competition he was denied a visa to travel.

I started coaching in Georgia in 2012. At first, I was just helping people that were looking to gain some size, strength and get in better shape. Then I found Forrest - my first competitor. This was the start of working with competitors across the IFBB, NPC and powerlifting.
